Zvartnots International Airport, located in Yerevan, is the principal gateway to the Republic of Armenia. Operating since 1961, the airport initially served flights within the former USSR. Today, it is a modern hub that meets international standards and facilitates both national and global connectivity. Since its establishment, the airport has achieved significant milestones. In 1985, it was granted ICAO Standards II certification. In 2001, its management was transferred to “Armenia” International Airports CJSC under a 30-year concession agreement with Argentina’s “Corporación América.” Between 2002 and 2011, the airport underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the modernization of runways, installation of advanced systems, and construction of new passenger terminals. In 2013, Zvartnots was recognized as the “Best Emerging Airport of Russia, CIS, and the Baltic States” at the Emerging Airports Conference. The airport’s facilities include state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as modernized runways meeting ICAO 2nd class standards, advanced security and check-in systems, and a 52,000 sq.m passenger terminal complex with expanded check-in areas and underground parking. VIP lounges are also available to cater to premium travelers.
